Gary Sanchez is currently on the road to recovery, and this recent road led him to some baseball work prior to Wednesday’s series finale against the Chicago White Sox.

During batting practice, Sanchez threw from 60 feet today, and manager Joe Girardi announced Sanchez had been catching five to six inning “games” from the pitching machine.

Sanchez also took 25 dry-swings at the cage and reported no pain.

There’s no timetable for Sanchez’s return. However, Didi Gregorius is slated to play in a minor league game on Friday, so the Yankees should be optimistic in having them both back sooner than later.

Other News

— In minor league news, the Yankees have placed prospect Gleyber Torres on the 7-day disabled list, retroactive to April 18, with mild right rotator cuff tendinitis. This comes after Torres was scratched from the Trenton Thunder lineup yesterday.

The Yankees expect Torres back soon and they don’t think this is a serious injury.

Chase Headley is batting in the two-hole for the first time this season. Girardi hinted Headley in the two-hole is something he’ll tinker with during the Pittsburgh Pirates series. Headley has a .519 OBP, which sparked the lineup change.
